Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for the following tasks, duties, and
Responsibilities:
Performs routine & non-routine preventative maintenance and repair on mechanical equipment.
Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
Lubricate or apply adhesives to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance Remove hardened material from machine parts, using abrasives, power and hand tools, or other equipment.
Replace or repair metal, wood, or other lining in machines, or in equipment compartments or containers.
Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
Set up, operate, and adjust machine controls to regulate operations.
Read work orders to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
Assist in new equipment or design, development, fabrication, and assembly.
Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse.
Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be replenished.
Measure, mix, prepare, and test chemical solutions used to clean or repair machinery and equipment.
Replace, empty, or replenish machine and equipment containers such as gas tanks or boxes.
Lockout/Tag-out authorized; perform lockout/tag-out according to the instructions for each individual piece of equipment as necessary while adhering to all safety procedures.
Organize the books, manuals, documentation, supplies, tools, and parts to ensure adequate levels.
Identify basic quality issues.
Perform duties with minimal supervision/support.
Use Maintenance Management software to organize and run daily functions of the department's needs.
Complete paperwork with minimal errors.
Write and modify procedures and specifications.
Develop, test, and implement PLC programs and logic.
Write change requests, computer system change requests, and requests for capital investments.
Plan and implement projects to improve equipment productivity.
Provide support to other team members.
Train and instruct areas of expertise, to ensure overall levels of readiness.
Be aware of the needs of production and the ability to assist and step in as needed.
Maintain & promote clean work area and common area.
Identify and report any unsafe work conditions, behaviors, or incidents.
Promote, follow, and adhere to all safety procedures.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
Education, Experience, & Skills:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Trade school certificate or 1-2 years of relevant machine maintenance experience (preferred).
Must have a strong background in machine maintenance and average troubleshooting skills.
Working knowledge of plastics processing, and film extrusion.
Ability to read blueprints including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and construction drawings.
Knowledge of PLC's, servo controls, variable speed drives, and conveyors.
Knowledge of Managers Plus and lookups.
Accurately enter hours worked for each work order.
Basic computer skills required, including the use of Microsoft Office, PC application, and the ability to work with different applications on different formats.
Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend basic English is essential for understanding various forms of work directions, written shop orders, and safety instructions.
This position requires the ability to communicate, both verbally and written, in a professional, positive, and constructive manner with management, peers, coworkers, and outside vendors.
Strong organization, time management, multitasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills required to anticipate issues and identify solutions.
Must be detail oriented and demonstrate both team-based and independent work skills.

This position requires work to be performed in both office and the manufacturing environments.
Work performed in the well-lit manufacturing environment may include regular exposure to flying dust and debris; the smell of burnt plastic; high decibel equipment and loud noises; and extreme temperatures ranging from subzero up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
The manufacturing environment is fast-moving and may require the mobility to bend, stoop, lift, carry, lift above shoulders, push, pull, walk, and stand throughout the duration of the shift.
May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body and lift up to 50lbs on an occasional basis.
Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment consistently and correctly.
This may include wearing safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, other safety equipment as designated, and adhering to the safety dress code.
Work performed in the controlled and well-lit office work environment has few physical hazards.
Visual acuity, manual dexterity, and hand function may be required to complete data entry, use technology, and complete other tasks as assigned.
Light travel between the Clearwater and Otsego facilities may be required.
Occasionally may need to pick up or drop off equipment or tools at third party vendors or repair shops.
