Summary:
The Production Specialist - Estimating is responsible for the quoting of potential sales, estimating all costs and associated margin, linking with sales orders, establishing all outside vendors, quoting and establishment of the production job estimated hours and materials to complete job, and the coordination with Purchasing, Sales, and Production Scheduling to assure standards are developed and maintained.

Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for the following tasks, duties, and
Responsibilities:
Review sales quote requests.
Accuracy of quotes effect margins, which estimators are accountable for (critical).
Identify outsourcing needs.
Estimate costs for preliminary presentation to potential customers.
Send out quote requests to vendors.
Layout Bill of Manufacture (BOM) - Coordinate with Engineering for approval.
Layout Machine Operations.
Quote time per part for operations.
Add in vendor quoted dollars and establish quotes.
Review sales orders when required or update price tables to assure accurate pricing.
Verify quantities, dollars, and lead times- coordinate with scheduling.
Coordinate all outside purchases with purchasing.
Communicate to all activities in operations for job release to scheduling.
Supervise outside contractors for assure assurance of quality and lead times.
Prepare tooling sales orders (Backup for Business Development Manager).
Prepare formal quotes sent to customers.
Accurate and timely delivery of quotes to sales.
Linking of a quote to the pricing table.
Establishment of outside services when required working with purchasing.
Accurate timing and job structure.
Accurate Item number and bill of material (BOM) set up.
Accurate information flow to coordinate all operational activities.
Accurate information to sales.
Implementation of TMM procedures.
Addition of sources with purchasing.
Input to the setup of jobs.
Evaluation of customers and profitability.
Assist in the setting of stock items.
Identify and report any unsafe work conditions, behaviors, or incidents.
Follow and adhere to all safety procedures.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
ECN (Cost Analysis, Cost review with Sales, Materials disposition, XCSF1.
Assist in ECN creation & sign off, for ERP changes, New item release to production and IPN, (Inactive Project Notification).
) Item production variance reporting.
(Host monthly meeting to review variances).
Identify and report any unsafe work conditions, behaviors, or incidents.
Follow and adhere to all safety procedures.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
Education, Experience, & Skills:

High degree of experience necessary in areas of procurement, job structure and manufacturing capabilities.
Analytical skills and computer literacy as well as supervisory skills and project management are critical.
Estimators must be familiar with work centers, processes, and elements in job performance.
These are acquired traits that estimators learn over years of experience in the markets they estimate in.
Attention to detail and the elements mentioned above all together are requirements to assure estimates are accurate and timely.
Estimators must be self-starters with a desire to achieve and always be studying methods and prior jobs to establish accurate quoting.
Estimation is an integral part of the organization and supports as well as communicates with all functional departments.
The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing is essential.
Proficient and professional email etiquette is required.
Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as the leader in a group environment that fosters cooperation between its members.
Must be able to coordinate functions with various departments and outside vendors.
Must be able to effectively communicate with outside clients and all levels of management.
Works well as an individual, is able to work effectively in a team environment, and facilitates positive interpersonal relations with co-workers.
